The first hole may just be the hardest first in the world and will have you scratching your head to figure how on earth you’re going to manage that one. You start on an elevated tee and need to send your ball down to a small patch of green surrounded by vegetation. On this course precision and strategy is definitely key. The good thing is you generally have multiple options to choose between when it comes to teeing off so you can choose according to your skill level and weather conditions.
There are lots of elevated greens not to mention streams and waterfalls surrounding small greens almost swallowed by jungle. The signature hole is the seventh which sits on a narrow peninsula framed by ocean on one side and unbelievably deep gorge on the other two. Thankfully you do have three choices to tee from and depending on how good you are with a short iron you may be able to birdie it. One dramatically more difficult hole is the par 4 12th. You’ll be standing on a cliff and need to send the ball to a narrow fairway 100 feet, that’s ten stories, down. Not to mention that that fairway is, of course, surrounded by jungle.
This course is a magnificent yet humbling experience for most but one you absolutely should try. There’s simply nothing like the excitement of anticipation and not knowing what fantastic thing you’ll have to endeavor next. No matter how many times you play it, the thrill never fades. If anything, it’ll just be greater to see if you can finally lower your scores after experiencing it for the first time. But for the first time, put the scoreboard away and let the course and its beauty speak to your golfer’s heart and accept the new challenge that awaits you at every turn.
